ERC will support the Nasa Research Centre’s space technology division under a $45m space technology research and development contract.

The space division develops technologies for prototype hypervelocity vehicles that could travel in Earth’s atmospheres and other planetary bodies in the solar system.

The division also conducts research in nanotechnology, materials science, sensors and devices.

ERC will work on hypersonic, reacting and radiating flows, aerothermodynamics of entry systems, aeronautics and space vehicle trajectories.

The firm will also support research, including that on computational fluid dynamics tools and quantum computing capabilities, engineering ablative, and reusable and multifunctional thermal protection materials, and conduct materials science research.

The one-year contract is valued at $45m and has three one-year options.
