The International Launch Services (ILS) Proton Breeze M launch vehicle has successfully placed the EchoStar XIV satellite into orbit for DISH Network.
The 6.3t EchoStar XIV, based on Space Systems / Loral’s 1300 platform, will provide Ku-band services over the US and strengthen DISH Network’s high-definition lineup.
The Breeze M released the EchoStar XIV satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit, nine hours and ten minutes into its mission.
Joining the DISH Network’s fleet the satellite will operate at 119 degrees West longitude.
EchoStar Satellite Services, a EchoStar subsidiary manages DISH Network’s space programmes and will begin in-orbit testing of the satellite later this month.
