Safran has opened two plants in Mexico that will manufacture aircraft components for Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The new plants will make parts for CFM engines powering Boeing 737s and some Airbus A320s.

It will also produce components for undercarriage systems for Boeing’s next-generation 787 Dreamliner, built by Messier Dowty, a Safran subsidiary.

Safran plans to invest $150m in the plants, that were located in Mexico to lower costs and leverage close access to the US aviation market.
