Airbus will increase the production rate of A320 aircraft from December 2010.
The A320 family comprises the A318, A319, A320 and A321 capable of carrying between 107 and 185 passengers a distance between 3,000nm and 3,600nm at speeds of up to Mach 0.82.
Airbus executive vice-president Tom Williams said indicators were showing an upward trend again and now was the time for the company to look ahead.
The firm will raise the monthly production of the single-aisle model to 36 aircraft, from the current rate of 34.
The decision is the result of continuing demand for Airbus’s eco-efficient aircraft, with the A320 order backlog standing at over 2,300 aircraft, according to the manufacturer.
