Nigeria has nearly completed building its second earth observation satellite, NigeriaSat-2, according to the Nigerian National Space Research and Development Agency (NNSRDA)
The satellite being built by NASRDA is 90% ready, according to agency’s director general Seidu Mohammed.
NigeriaSat-2 had a high spatial resolution sensor with a strength of 2.5m enabling it to capture very small area of the earth’s surface.
NASRDA director general Seidu Mohammed said the satellite had undergone several tests including those to ascertain the readiness of the second satellite for space flight, according to the NAM News Network.
“We are now identifying an appropriate launcher,” he said.
The launch is planned for the third quarter of 2010.
