Pratt & Whitney is to deliver PW4000 Advantage 70 engines to power six new Airbus A330 aircraft for Hong Kong Airlines (HNA).
The PW4000 is a high-thrust engine family with a certified thrust of up to 62,000lb which features single-crystal superalloy materials and it includes full-authority digital electronic control.
The Advantage 70 technology provides a 2% thrust increase, a 1% reduction in fuel consumption and reduced maintenance costs.
HNA is the second Chinese carrier to select the engine to power its new A330s.
The $470m deal includes two spare engines and a fleet management programme.
