UAV detection and interception systems manufacturer DroneShield has secured certification to use its range of drone-combating products at airports in the US.
DroneShield stated that specialised radio-frequency testing laboratory 360°RF independently assessed its DroneSentinel and DroneCannon detection and jamming products.
During the assessment, the products were found to be compatible with most commonly used communications and navigation systems across US airports.
RfOne and RadarZero core models that are found in the company’s DroneSentinel detection system were determined to create no increase in background electromagnetic interference when operational.
Additionally, DroneCannon, the drone mitigation element of DroneShield’s DroneSentry system, has been found to operate within the advertised bands. These ranges are outside of aviation frequency bands in the non-GPS mode.
The certification further advances DroneShield’s strategy to protect US airports which are believed to be the main targets for drone attacks.
DroneShield was quoted by thewest.com.au as saying: “In response to the rapidly growing threat to aeroplanes and airports from drones flying in the restricted airspace, airport facilities globally are seeking to proceed with installation of counter-drone systems, and airport facilities have engaged in discussions with DroneShield in that regard.
“This certification was a prerequisite in airport procurement processes.”
The latest announcement from DroneShield follows the recent launch of its European hub in the Netherlands.
