Ground handling services provider Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has deployed CHAMP’s Cargospot Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) solution across its 15 air cargo handling stations in France as part of its digital transformation initiative.

The move includes cargo terminal operations in Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Paris Orly, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Mulhouse, Montpellier, Marseille, Nice and Nantes.

With the implementation of the new technology, WFS employees will be able to quickly capture data using touch, swipe, and drag-and-drop actions.

The technology removes paper processes and replaces them with large information screens on tablets, helping prevent errors with automated validation of user actions.

It also provides electronic checklists for warehouse staff and managers.

Last year, WFS awarded the contract for installing Cargospot as the core cargo management solution for its operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA) to CHAMP.

WFS Group chief information officer Pedro Garcia said: “The rollout of Cargospot SAAS across our EMEAA stations is on track thanks to the response of our teams across the region to embrace this new technology.

“By investing to replace paper-based processes, we are enabling our teams of cargo handling professionals to focus on our main priorities of safety, security and operational excellence.

“More of our stations in EMEAA will switch over to Cargospot in the coming weeks as we continue to deliver our digital roadmap and gain the benefits this provides for both WFS and our customers.”

The system is already used by WFS’ cargo stations in Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

CHAMP Cargosystems commercial and customer engagement vice-president Nicholas Xenocostas said: “CHAMP is thrilled to be an integral part of WFS’ digital transformation journey.

“We continue to enhance our services with a key focus on operational efficiency in the warehouse, enabling increased collaboration between key stakeholders at airports – further increasing WFS’ relations with its customers.”
