The pilot programmes will be implemented at strategic airports, offering Filipino citizens a more secure airport experience, the company and government department said.

The Philippine Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said: “By keeping in step with best international practices, and with the cooperation of private concessionaires of airports, we can elevate Philippine aviation to global standards. Major airports abroad have long adopted this technology.”

UltraPass technology will simplify passenger verification while upholding the highest levels of privacy and data sovereignty.

The digital identity solution from UltraPass is expected to reduce passenger processing times and boost security measures, enhancing the overall travel experience.

The signing ceremony with Secretary of Transportation Jaime Bautista and UltraPass CEO Eric Starr was witnessed by US Under Secretary Maria Lago and senior officials.

This collaboration originated from the inaugural Presidential Trade & Investment Mission to the Philippines earlier this year under the leadership of Secretary Gina Raimondo.

The technology integration is also in line with the US’ commitment to strengthen economic ties with the Philippines and enhance regional connectivity as part of the ASEAN Digital Economic Framework Agreement and the US Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.

UltraPass CEO Eric Starr said: “Our partnership with the Philippines DOTr demonstrates how US technology can support ASEAN’s digital transformation goals while maintaining individual nations’ digital sovereignty.

“This collaboration sets a new standard for how digital identity can enhance both security and efficiency in aviation.”
