Russian company Travel Retail Domodedovo (TRD) has won the tender to serve as the exclusive duty-free operator in the new International Terminal at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow.
Under the seven-year contract, TRD will operate, manage and develop approximately 7,000m² of duty-free outlets in the terminal. It is expected to open in June this year.
Gebr Heinemann Russia and CIS sales director Oleg Zhytomyrsky said: “Over the years, TRD has established itself as a reliable and competent duty-free operator. We will continue to expand this competence in the coming years and present a comprehensive and varied range of duty-free products to passengers at Domodedovo Airport.
“We are delighted at winning this tender, which is a great confirmation of our entrepreneurial commitment in Russia.”
Upon becoming operational, the new terminal will handle all international flights, while domestic flights will be based in the existing terminal.
TRD will be increasing the number of local staff working in the airport’s duty-free zone.
Additionally, the planned duty-free area will feature a 4,000m² walk-through duty-free shop directly behind the security checkpoint.
With two duty-free shops and three duty paid shops, the company is already active at Domodedovo Airport.
Founded in 2007, TRD is a joint venture between Gebr Heinemann and its local partner Greenway.
