Global IT provider SITA has been appointed by iGA to deliver a range of airport, passenger, and baggage processing solutions at Istanbul New Airport.
SITA will provide management solutions for plane landings, passenger processing, baggage check-in, and boarding. The airport typically processes 75 flight departures an hour, 3,500 flight operations a day, and 1,000 bags a flight.
After all phases of the project conclude, capacity at the airport is set to reach more than 200 million passengers a year.
SITA Middle East, India, and Africa president Hani El-Assaad said: “SITA’s role is to provide and integrate all these systems to provide effortless airport management, while elevating passenger experience and satisfaction.”
The company will initially deploy departure control systems and a common-use platform to allow multiple airlines to connect and use the same check-in and boarding infrastructure.
A total of 1,041 check-in and boarding workstations and around 90 automated passenger access control touchpoints will also be implemented to allow self-service validation of boarding passes against travel documents.

Using SITA’s airport management solution, İGA will be able to centralise flight data information collected from all airport systems.
