Siemens is working with Skanska Walsh joint venture to deploy a Siemens Intelligent Infrastructure Solution in the new central terminal complex at LaGuardia International Airport in the US.
The solution includes an integrated building automation, and a fire and life safety system.
Skanska is currently serving as the design-build contractor for the redevelopment of Central Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport.
Siemens’ Desigo CC integrated building management system will control and monitor building automation. It will also allow for dynamic control of the facility’s systems to respond to the varying needs of the terminal’s operations.
Additionally, the Desigo Fire XLS-V voice-enabled fire alarm panel will operate in the terminal.
Siemens North American-based Building Technologies Division president Dave Hopping said: “We’re extremely proud to play such a key role in achieving Governor Cuomo’s vision for a new and modernised LaGuardia airport and in helping create the perfect place to travel efficiently and safely.

By GlobalData“Our open platform integrated building management system will provide smart building command, control, and communication by connecting building systems including HVAC, fire, energy metering, and lighting.”
Set to be located next to the existing Grand Central Parkway, the new complex will use an island-gate system, which will create additional taxiways and lead to fewer gate delays and lower carbon emissions from idling planes.
Skanska Walsh Joint Venture airport system manager Ted Jadermark said: “Integrating Siemens building automation and fire safety systems as we build the new facility gives us the ability to manage and monitor its dynamic daily operations with the increased confidence necessary to protect the comfort and safety of LaGuardia’s travellers and, at the same time, reduce emissions.”
