Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot has renewed its long-term communication network services contract with IT and telecommunication provider SITA, as the airline continues to expand to new locations across the globe.

Scoot is using SITA AirportHub to simplify its central IT systems connections to the airports in its rapidly-growing network of routes across Asia, Europe, Africa and America.

The new technology has enabled the airport to deploy IT and telecoms infrastructure within three weeks.

SITA said that its network services will connect Scoot destinations worldwide to its reservation system, Departure Control Services and disaster recovery site.

“SITA is a reliable partner in efficiently getting airports connected. With SITA’s global footprint, speed and flexibility, we can focus on expansion and adding new routes to our network.”

Scoot IT vice-president Jason Chin said: “Scoot currently has an extensive network of 66 destinations across 18 countries and territories, and plans for aggressive growth are in place.

“It is vital that our IT infrastructure is connected among our partners and efficient enough to support our expansion.

Currently, SITA’s system is operational at more than 440 airports and delivers 7,000 customer connections across the globe.

SITA Asia Pacific president Sumesh Patel said: “These are exciting times at Scoot as it rapidly grows its business. Expansion can bring challenges but SITA is delivering sophisticated communication network services to alleviate some of those.”
