The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for ten concession locations at O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago, Illinois, US.
The RFP allows the interested and qualified business owners and entrepreneurs to submit their proposals to lease, develop and operate the concession locations at the airport.
Claimed to be the largest concessions offering in a decade, this RFP is part of the $8.5bn O’Hare 21 project, which will further advance travel options and airline opportunities. The O’Hare 21 project will also improve security screening at the airport and decrease wait times.
The project is aimed at upgrading facilities, offering new passenger amenities and expanding travel options by increasing gate capacity and offering more economic opportunities for Chicago.
Of the ten locations, seven are located in Terminal 5, which is currently undergoing expansion. The remaining three locations are at Terminal 3.
These concession locations include over 10,000ft² of available space.
Chicago Mayor Lori M Lightfoot said: “This is a huge undertaking as the Chicago Department of Aviation continues to move forward with the transformation of O’Hare.
“This RFP offers more diversity to small and minority business owners who will be ready to offer their goods and services to passengers as safe travel practices increase.”
CDA stated that RFP will help to improve quality and value by offering innovative food, beverage and retail concepts with broad customer appeal.
