The partnership entails SITA delivering a range of smart solutions to streamline passenger processing, baggage reconciliation, and airport operations, among others.

Red Sea International Airport, a part of The Red Sea destination developed by Red Sea Global, is expected to serve one million guests annually by 2030. It is expected to have peak capacity of 900 passengers per hour.

The new systems are essential to managing the volume of traffic, preventing congestion, and ensuring a seamless journey for passengers.

Red Sea International Airport chief guest experience officer Andrew Tyler Smith said: “Our aim is not only to enhance the guest experience from the moment of touchdown, but also to firmly establish our commitment to sustainability.

Some of the systems that SITA will supply under the contract include SITA Flex, Maestro Departure Control System and ITA Bag Manager.

The SITA Flex and Maestro departure control system is intended to automate check-in and departure processes. This allows passengers to use their mobile devices to manage their journey.

The SITA Bag Manager will offer advanced baggage reconciliation by tracking every bag in real time.

Additionally, SITA will supply a suite of airport management solutions that will enable RSI to utilise data effectively for resource allocation and operational efficiency, and Information Display Systems to keep passengers informed with timely flight updates.

SITA Middle East & Africa president Selim Bouri said: “As the region gears up to welcome more travellers than ever before, RSI’s Main Terminal Building rises to the challenge of welcoming them effectively and efficiently.

“Our comprehensive suite of solutions will ensure smooth operations for the airport’s teams while enhancing the passenger experience every step of the way. We are proud to have gained the trust and confidence of Red Sea International Airport through our work together so far and look forward to a longstanding collaboration.”

Earlier this month, SITA expanded its partnership with IDEMIA Public Security to advance baggage handling and airport operations.

The partnership will integrate IDEMIA’s computer vision expertise with SITA’s baggage processing skills to enhance baggage handling efficiency and the overall airport experience.
