Airbus has delivered its first A350-1000 wide-body aircraft to launch customer Qatar Airways as part of an order comprising 37 planes.
The twin-aisle aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and equipped with new Qsuite seats to offer double bed capabilities in Business class, as well as 44 additional seats.
The A350-1000 variant comprises a 7m longer fuselage and 40% additional cabin space compared to the smaller A350-900 model.
With a 14,800km range at entry into service, the aircraft features a modified wing trailing-edge, new six-wheel main landing gears and other improved solutions.
Airbus representative Fabrice Brégier said: “Bringing major advantages in fuel and cost efficiency along with unmatched passenger comfort, the A350-1000 is the ideal aircraft to showcase Qatar Airways’ legendary customer service.
“With its greater capacity compared to the A350-900, the newest wide-body will play a major role on the carrier’s busiest long-haul routes and will contribute to strengthen their position at the forefront of the aviation industry.”
