Pangiam CEO Kevin McAleenan said: “Pangiam is excited to acquire veriScan, which, through its state-of-the-art technology, is truly revolutionising the safety and ease-of-air travel today. veriScan’s cost-effective, easy-to-implement Cloud application makes it accessible to all airports and airlines and we expect to see increased adoption of this technology this year as travel resumes globally.”

The transaction marks the first Pangiam acquisition since its formation last October.

MWAA president and CEO John Potter said: “veriScan was envisioned and developed by the airport authority’s in-house technology team to meet new federal security screening requirements while improving and streamlining the passenger experience.”

Developed by MWAA in collaboration with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the traveller verification solution fulfils the CBP compliance needed for biometric exit.

MWAA senior vice-president and chief information officer Goutam Kundu said: “Our team takes great pride in this milestone. We look forward to seeing veriScan continue to shape the future of seamless, secure travel under the direction of Pangiam.”

veriScan’s solution was first introduced at Washington Dulles International (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) airports in 2018 and has until now processed over 1.3 million passengers with an accuracy of 99%.

Currently, the solution is being used by more than 40 airlines.
