OSI Systems’ Security division has secured a contract to supply its Real Time Tomography (RTT) 110 explosive detection system.

Under the contract, which is valued at nearly $13m, OSI Systems will provide multiple units of its RTT 110 explosive detection system, which will be installed at an Asia-Pacific international airport for screening passengers’ hold (checked) baggage.

The system uses a proprietary stationary gantry approach for providing high-resolution 3D imaging.

Its unique design also enables the efficient inspection of hold baggage and air cargo.

The system has currently been deployed at various airports worldwide, as well as air logistics providers.

It is in line with the European Civil Aviation Conference’s (ECAC) HBS EDS Standard 3 threat detection requirements.

In September 2020, OSI Systems’ Security division secured a contract to deliver a range of security inspection systems to Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Qatar.

The $59m order was awarded by the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management (MATAR).

The scope of the contract included the delivery of its high-speed Rapiscan RTT 110 system for baggage screening, Itemizer 4DX desktop trace detection system and associated services.

In another development, US-based Turner Construction has secured a contract to manage the third and final phase of the $300m centralised de-icing facility along Louis Carruthers Drive at Memphis International Airport (MEM).

The contract was finalised by the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA).
