Boeing has awarded a contract to UTC Aerospace Systems to provide complete nacelle systems for the 787-10 Dreamliner variant.

The deal extends the existing contract awarded in 2004 for the provision of inlets, thrust reversers, fan cowls and exhaust systems for the GE and Rolls-Royce engine options on the 787-8 and 787-9.

The scope of the latest agreement includes the design and manufacture of nacelle systems for engine variants of the higher capacity version of the Dreamliner.

UTC Aerospace Systems’ Aerostructures business, headquartered in Chula Vista, California, will meet the contract and supply aftermarket support of the 787-10 nacelle systems through its maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities and spares distribution centres.

The 787-10 is the third member of the 787 family and will be 18ft longer than the 787-9. It has an accomodation capacity of 323 passengers.

The aircraft was launched in June 2013, and has to date logged 132 orders from six global customers.
