United Airlines has unveiled its new club, built as part of a $573m project to upgrade Terminal 7 and Concourse 8 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Spread across an area of more than 20,000ft², the LAX United Club features a gourmet kitchen and bar, offering expanded food and beverage options, and seating areas.

United Airlines executive vice-president and chief commercial officer Julia Haywood said: "LAX is a key piece of our global route network, and we're incredibly proud that it will house one of our finest United Clubs.

“Aesthetically, it's unlike any other, with panoramic views of the city and an outdoor terrace.”

The airline’s terminal redevelopment initiative aims to enhance experience to travellers at LAX.

Over the past several months, United has opened a new lobby and baggage claim areas.

"LAX is a key piece of our global route network, and we're incredibly proud that it will house one of our finest United Clubs."

In cooperation with the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), the airlines also installed a new security checkpoint complete with five automated screening lanes.

United provides its customers with 150 daily flights from LAX to more than 50 destinations worldwide.

United Airlines and United Express operate more than 4,500 flights a day to 339 airports across five continents.

In 2015, the airline operated more than 1.5 million flights carrying more than 140 million customers.
