US-based air traffic simulation systems and voice technologies developer UFA has successfully delivered an ATTower training solution to UK-based company Air Navigation Solutions for deployment at London’s Gatwick Airport.

As part of the project, UFA has installed the ATTower system, which uses a multi-channel ATView HD LCD-based display system to simulate air traffic scenarios.

UFA chief executive officer David Wolff said: “Providing a training platform for the world’s busiest single-use runway operation at Gatwick demonstrates the capabilities of our ATTower simulator.

“We are pleased to be able to bring our industry-leading simulation expertise to the UK market.”

For Gatwick Airport, the US company has developed a latest 3D airport visual database that represents the present state of the airport.

“Providing a training platform for the world’s busiest single-use runway operation at Gatwick demonstrates the capabilities of our ATTower simulator."

In addition, replicas of the weather at Gatwick Airport, along with information and lighting displays, were also developed to enhance the realism of the training.

The ATTower training solution has been integrated with the same third-party electronic flight strip system used by air traffic controllers

Headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, US, UFA offers simulation and voice technology products and services for air traffic management (ATM).

In addition to ATTower, the company offers a wide range of products worldwide, such as ATCoach, ATWorld, ATView, ATVehicle, ATVoice, ATRadio, ATCloud and ATSpeak.
