ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the passenger transportation arm of Germany-based Thyssenkrupp, has won a deal to provide 143 passenger boarding bridges (PBB) to Turkey’s Istanbul New Airport.
The deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, will help improve efficiency and safety in passengers’ aircraft boarding and alighting routines at the airport.
Equipped with improved components, the PBBs are designed to help reduce turnaround time and optimise gate management activities.
Thyssenkrupp said the boarding bridges would be manufactured in compliance with the EN12312-4 standard to ensure passenger safety.
The company will also carry out major maintenance works for the PBBs in the future.
Thyssenkrupp Airport Systems CEO Alexander Pfurr said: “When open, the new airport will meet the travel requirements for generations to come, whilst also positively affecting Turkey’s economy.
