Global airline alliance SkyTeam is set to open a new lounge at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in an effort to boost its presence in Canada.

Once built, the new lounge will offer a luxurious facility for First, Business and Elite Plus passengers travelling on any of the alliance’s nine member airlines currently operating at the airport.

Slated to open by the end of this year, the lounge at YVR will be SkyTeam’s first facility in North America and the seventh in the world.

Vancouver Airport Authority Commercial Development vice-president Scott Norris said: “We have nine valued SkyTeam airline partners at YVR and are thrilled Vancouver will be their first North American lounge location.

“We always want to offer exceptional customer experiences and I am confident that the new SkyTeam Lounge will do just that by providing premium amenities in a beautifully appointed location surrounded by our award-winning shopping facilities.”

The other six branded lounges of the company are located in Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London Heathrow and Sydney.

YVR plans to disclose specific location of the new lounge at the airport, along with its amenities and features, ahead of the opening.

Delta Air Lines, Aeroméxico, Air France, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air and Xiamen Airlines are the member airlines of SkyTeam serving YVR.
