Airbus has delivered Singapore Airlines’ first wide-body A350 XWB jet, which will be deployed on long-haul flights from next month, starting with Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and then Dusseldorf, Germany.
The carrier is initially planning to fly the aircraft on regional services to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Following the delivery, Singapore Airlines has become the fifth operator of the new long-range, twin-engine airliner, with which the carrier expects to build its base for future mid-size wide-body fleet.
The newly delivered plane is configured in a premium three-class layout with 253 seats, including 42 business class, 24 premium economy and 187 economy seats.
In order to operate long-range routes and some regional services, Singapore Airlines has ordered a total of 67 A350-900s planes, seven of which will be delivered with an ultra-long range capability for flights of up to 19 hours.
Singapore Airlines’ current fleet includes 19 double decker A380s and 29 A330-300 aircraft.

Airbus has currently received altogether 783 firm orders for the A350 XWB from 42 customers worldwide.
The company recently received an order for six A350-900 aircraft from Philippine Airlines (PAL), with a purchase option for an additional six units.
