Sichuan Airlines has signed an agreement to purchase 20 C919s from Commercial Aircraft of China (COMAC).

The C919 jet will be similar to Boeing’s 737 and Airbus’s A320 in the narrow-body segment.

The final design of the C919 will be revealed in 2011 and the detailed design will be completed by 2012, with the first flight slated for 2014.

The test flights for the single-aisle, 150-seat C919 aircraft should receive type certification by 2016.

Delivery of the C919 aircraft is slated for 2016.
