Rolls-Royce has opened its new Airline Aircraft Availability Centre in Derby, UK, to offer improved engine services.

The new centre will use the latest digital data management and technology innovations to perform engine operations and maintenance.

It will eventually ensure every aircraft equipped with a Rolls-Royce engine departs and lands on time, as well as help airlines save thousands of dollars a day.

According to Rolls-Royce, its new service centre will help transform and analyse large-scale engine data, enabling better and faster service decisions.

The centre will also see the introduction of various new technologies such as new real-time collaboration system and ‘remote surgery’ techniques.

"Our Airline Aircraft Availability Centre incorporates the advances of today and tomorrow to support our vision of every Rolls-Royce-powered aircraft taking off and landing on time, every time.”

Rolls-Royce civil aerospace services senior vice-president Tom Palmer said: “We are entering a new era of digital connectivity and new services technology, which allows us to greatly expand the type of services we can offer, with aircraft availability a key objective.

The new centre complements the company’s global network of customer service centres, which work locally with customers.

It will further help the company to transform its IntelligentEngine concept into a reality by combining analysis of digital data from its engines with those of customers and partners to make improvements to airline economics in terms of aircraft availability and fuel-efficiency.
