Qatar Airways has unveiled its plan to buy six new Boeing aircraft, including two 747-8 Freighters and four 777-300ER aircraft, with a combined value of $2.16bn at list prices.
The order enables the carrier to continue expanding its fleet, which currently includes around 100 Boeing wide-body aeroplanes.

The aircraft will also be in addition to more than 100 Boeing planes previously ordered by Qatar Airways.
The airline has also taken delivery of a new 747-8 Freighter from Boeing.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “The addition of our very first 747-8 Freighter is a significant moment for our cargo division and a welcome addition to our 20-strong cargo fleet of wide-body aircraft.
“As the world's third-largest cargo operator, Qatar Airways continues to invest in fleet expansion, with a second 747-8F due to be delivered in November.”

By GlobalDataBoeing noted that its 747-8 Freighter aircraft is designed to reduce operating costs, provide enhanced environmental performance and an increased revenue cargo-carrying capability in comparison with Boeing’s 747-400 aircraft family.
The 777-300ER fleet ordered by Qatar Airways is suitable for long-haul flights.
In a separate development, Boeing subsidiary AerData signed an agreement with MTU Aero Engines to provide Secure Technical Records for Electronic Asset Management (STREAM) and Engine Fleet Planning And Costing (EFPAC) software.
Using AerData’s STREAM and EFPAC software, MTU Aero Engines will be able to effectively manage premium aircraft records and optimise maintenance planning.
