Turkey-based budget carrier Pegasus Airlines has finalised an order with Boeing for five next-generation 737-800 aircraft, valued around $505m based on expected list prices at delivery.

Pegasus Airlines and its subsidiaries, including Air Manas and Izair, currently have a fleet of 58 737-800 aircraft and a total of 69 airliners.

Based at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Pegasus Airlines operates flights on 33 domestic and 70 international routes.

The ESAS-owned airline started its first charter flights in 1990 and has been operating scheduled flights since 2005.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Europe sales vice-president Monty Oliver said: "The 737-800 continues to be the best selling version of the very successful next-generation 737 family, accumulating over 7,000 orders worldwide."
