OJSC National Air Company Uzbekistan Airways and Alitalia Societa aerea Italiana have signed a code-share partnership.

Pursuant to the agreement, Uzbekistan Airways will share its code on Alitalia-operated flights from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to Milan Malpensa and Rome, Italy.

American Airlines has unveiled its plan to invest up to $1.6bn to upgrade check-in facilities in Terminal 5, as well as centralise security screening checkpoints in Terminals 4 and 5 at Los Angeles International Airport, US.

American Airlines has also signed a letter of intent with Los Angeles World Airports to negotiate a new 15-year lease agreement.

The Federal Aviation Administration of the US has awarded grants totalling $62.4m for three airports.

An estimated $60m of the funds will be used for the construction of 9C/27C and 10C/28C runways at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.

Bay Minette Municipal Airport in Alabama and Brookings Regional Airport in South Dakota will receive $1.2m each for rehabilitation of runways and other infrastructure.
