A new United Services Organization (USO) Welcome Centre has opened at Orlando International Airport in Florida, US.

The new centre is located on the A side of the airport’s main terminal, and is one of the USO’s largest facilities.

Said to be the airport’s first such facility in 15 years, the welcome centre features a gaming area, a quiet room and a play room for children, reported Orlando Sentinel.

"Lockheed Martin and the USO have a longstanding legacy of support to the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families."

Spread across an area of 3,400ft², the new Lockheed Martin-sponsored centre will be used by nearly 10,000 service members and their dependents every month.

More than 700,000 active duty troops, veterans and their relatives currently fly in and out of Orlando International Airport annually.

Lockheed Martin vice-president Jon Rambeau said: “Lockheed Martin and the USO have a longstanding legacy of support to the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families.
