Air navigation service provider NAV CANADA has selected Saab Sensis’ airport surface surveillance technology, Multilateration System, to be installed at Calgary International Airport.
The technology will provide complete coverage of the airport’s runways, taxiways and terminal areas for improved all-weather surface situational awareness.
In addition, NAV CANADA will install Saab Sensis VeeLo NextGen vehicle locators for the surveillance of vehicles operating on the airport surface.
The locators will be attached to the exterior of an airport vehicle to locate its position from a satellite-based augmentation system-enabled GPS receiver.
Saab Sensis said that the vehicle locator broadcasts its location and identity using the Mode S Extended Squitter ADS-B message format.
