Airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is expected to issue a certificate of practical completion (CPC) for completing the work on the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) terminal by the end of the year.
The announcement was made by MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali on a public accounts committee (PAC) report tabled in Dewan Rakyat on 25 November.

He further stated that the costs for the enhancement of facility at klia2 will not be passed on to the low-cost carriers.
As cited in Bernama, the report claimed that the airport operator had failed to take into consideration klia2’s status as a low-cost airport, which led to an increase in operating costs for carriers.
The costs for upgrading the facilities and the maintenance would be taken up by the company.
Speaking about the CPC, Ghazali said that there was a delay in its issuing due to the rectification of small defects, including cracks on the pipes in the restroom.

By GlobalDataThe Malaysian Reserve quoted Ghazali as saying: "A few obligations need to be fulfilled before we consider it as fully accomplished, but they are not major changes.
"I can say that 97% of klia2 project has been done accordingly by the contractors, while 3% are minimal changes."
The airport operator also said that they were open to being audited over the construction and delivery of the airport after speaking to the transport ministry about the kind of audit that will be conducted.
MAHB is also planning to ease the customers’ walking distance by adding 19 walkalators, three of which will be delivered this year. The remaining 16 units will be delivered in 2015.
