Germany’s Lufthansa Technik has chosen UTC Aerospace Systems’ aircraft interface device (AID) solution to provide improved in-flight connectivity to its customers.
The UTC Aerospace Systems AID will also enable Lufthansa to offer enhanced data processing performance, advanced network security features, as well as ability to host embedded applications and reliability.
Once delivered, the devices will be installed on the A320 series fleet of aircraft, operated by Lufthansa German Airlines.
Lufthansa Technik has already received the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the AID system on the Airbus A320 family and is preparing follow-on certifications on various commercial aircraft types for customers beyond the Lufthansa Group.
In addition, the newly signed deal also includes options to install the AID device on the entire fleet of Lufthansa.
UTC Aerospace Systems business development vice-president Mark Skarohlid said: “For Lufthansa Technik's customers, the latest AID will provide enhanced functionality, improved safety, stronger cybersecurity and greater in-flight data connectivity, while simultaneously reducing costs.
