Germany-based management consulting firm Lufthansa Consulting has entered a comprehensive agreement with Iraq’s Ministry of Transport in order to revamp the country’s airports, its national carrier Iraqi Airways and its civil aviation authority (ICAA).
The new long-term deal includes the formulation of a strategic advisory and implementation project for the sector.
In addition, the deal will reinforce the ICAA in accordance with international standards and best practices, as well as allow Iraqi Airways to become a major airline in the Middle East.
The contract will also help transform the country’s Baghdad International Airport into a global hub serving three continents.
Lufthansa Consulting managing director Dr. Andreas Jahnke said: “Lufthansa Consulting is proud to be chosen as an implementer and strategic advisor to the Iraqi Minister of Transport with a view to modernising the aviation industry.
“With our international expertise acquired over 40 years as an aviation consultancy and our commitment to integrity and compliance with international standards, we are well equipped to support the Iraqi authorities and institutions in enhancing the situation in the interests of the people of Iraq.”
