NASA ISS

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract by Nasa to offer mission and flight crew operations support for the International Space Station (ISS) and future human space exploration.

The latest award forms part of a team led by SGT and within the Integrated Mission Operations Contract II, which is vital to the safe operation of all Nasa’s human spaceflight missions.

To be carried out at Nasa’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Lockheed Martin’s mission support work under the contract includes flight controller training and real-time mission execution.

In addition, Lockheed Martin will also offer ground-based human spaceflight services for the Orion multi-purpose crew vehicle and new commercial cargo vehicles.

"It allows us the opportunity to support future exploration and human spaceflight missions."

Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions business exploration and mission support vice-president Rick Hieb said: "We are thrilled to be a part of this contract, as it allows us the opportunity to support future exploration and human spaceflight missions.

"Together with SGT, we can apply resources and experience to ensure we are advancing Nasa’s mission through IMOC II."
