Landmark Worldwide has filed an application with the Nepalese Government to build the country’s second international airport at Nijgadh, in the district of Bara.
The project requires an investment of $600m and will be completed by 2015.
A feasibility report estimates that the airport will handle 15 million passengers per year.
Officials at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation said that they will forward the application to a build-own-operate-transfer committee for consideration.
If the committee deems the application fit, it will forward the proposal to the Cabinet for the final approval, reports myrepublica.com.
