Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Malaysia has completed 90% of the installation of a baggage handling system at KL Sentral.

The system will be completed by the first quarter of 2012, but is not yet operational because of insurance and additional costs, according to bernama.com.

The new baggage handling system will allow passengers arriving at KLIA to collect their baggage at KL Sentral.

Currently, the baggage system only sends baggage from KL Sentral to KLIA.

Although the initial cost for the project was RM165.3m ($53m), this has since risen by RM19m.
