Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan is expected to become operational on 14 August 2017.
Construction of the airport began over ten years ago, but its estimated cost increased significantly following several delays.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had predicted that the airport's initial deadline of December 2016 would be missed.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nwaz Sharif was quoted by Dunyanews.tv as saying: “New Islamabad Airport will have modern facilities and it will be an ideal airport.”
According to CAA officials, approximately 82% work of the new Islamabad International Airport has been completed, and measures are being taken to complete the project within the allocated budget.
This airport will be supplied with water from the Rama and Kasana dams, and connected to the city's Metro bus service.
