Indian low-cost passenger carrier IndiGo has reportedly received its 13th Airbus A-320 Neo aircraft, marking its 125th aircraft.

The company has also introduced ten new aircraft connecting Hyderabad to Goa, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam, reported news agencies.

Additional aircraft and flights are said to outline Indigo’s expansion plan, demonstrating its growth on a monthly basis, as well as to address increasing demand on its existing routes.

IndiGo president and whole-time director Aditya Ghosh was quoted by news agencies saying: “The delivery of the 125th aircraft in the 125th month of our operation is indeed a landmark occasion for us.

“It reinforces our commitment towards the industry and living our promise of providing the best flying experience to our passengers.”

The A320neo is equipped with new engines and has improved aerodynamics that helps reduce noise and emissions.

It is fitted with 2.4m-long Sharklet wing-tip devices, which are designed to reduce fuel consumption up to 4%, resulting in an annual reduction of 900t of CO2 emission per aircraft.

The new Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan engines in the A320neo are said to be 15% more fuel-efficient than current comparable aircraft models.
