Honeywell has secured a $21.7m contract to provide Heathrow’s new terminal 2 with an integrated fire safety, public address and voice alarm system.
Under the contract, Honeywell will also supply lighting controls and building management systems covering the terminal’s mechanical and electrical operations.
HETCo, a joint venture between Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke, awarded the contract to Honeywell after the installation of a similar system at Heathrow’s terminal 5.
Honeywell said that its integrated fire detection, public address and voice alarm system provides clear, intelligible voice alarm messages through loudspeakers in affected areas only, making evacuations quick and controlled.
The company’s building management system will monitor the terminal’s mechanical and electrical services to ensure that the facility operates efficiently.
