GE Aviation will supply its CF6-80E1 engines to Singapore-based BOC Aviation to power its two new Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

The Airbus aeroplanes will be delivered to BOC Aviation by 2017.

BOC Aviation managing director and CEO Robert Martin said: "Our choice of GE Aviation’s CF6 engines demonstrates our confidence in the reliability and proven strong operational performance of the engine.

"We have purchased more than 340 engines from GE Aviation and its joint ventures, and we look forward to continue building on this enduring partnership with them to meet the needs of our customers."

GE’s CF6 engines have been used in more than ten models of wide-body aircraft and so far it has delivered more than 600 CF6-80E1 engines for the Airbus A330 aircraft.

With 256 aircrafts operated by 61 airlines in 30 countries worldwide, BOC Aviation is primarily involved in leasing aircrafts.

Bank of China-owned BOC Aviation aims to acquire 195 aircraft this year. The firm has operations in Dublin, London, Seattle and Tianjin.

The company recently announced that it has leased two Airbus A330-300 aircraft to Taiwan’s EVA Airways, for delivery by 2017.

Previous leasings include two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and twelve 12 Airbus A321s for EVA Air, and six A321 models. The remaining aeroplanes will be delivered over the next two years.
