Austrian company Frequentis has launched its latest air traffic management network solution, vitalsphere, at the 2016 World ATM Congress held in Madrid, Spain.
A hybrid terrestrial-satellite network solution, vitalsphere provides real-time network performance data that helps it re-route safety-critical communication flows before link black-outs.
The next-generation solution will support ongoing transformations in air traffic control, including remote towers and the virtualisation of control centres.
The system is equipped to consistently provide the highest safety standards while scaling capacity and reducing costs.
Frequentis ATM networks product manager Stefan Galler said: "A hybrid network has to solve many challenges, a conventional network can’t fulfill – different network delays, varying jitter, supported routing protocols and failover behaviour.
"vitalsphere provides an application-aware routing of communications, enables end-to-end path diversity and allows ANSPs to act before failure."
