Frankfurt International Airport, Germany, reported a 2.5% increase in passengers to 5.15 million for October 2011, compared with the corresponding month in 2010.

The maximum takeoff weight at the airport climbed by 0.8% to 2.57 million tonnes during the month, while aircraft movements rose by 0.5% to 42,500.

The airport handled 187,000t of airfreight, a fall of 9.3% for the same month in 2010.

The Fraport Group, which owns Frankfurt airport, saw a 8.91% increase in total passenger traffic across its five majority-owned facilities to 8.91 million for October 2011.

The airport also saw a 7.3% decline in cargo throughput (airfreight and airmail) to 220,000t for the month, while aircraft movements increased by 2.3% to over 72,400.
