Flyht Aerospace Solutions has been selected to provide its automated flight information reporting system (AFIRS) data services to an undisclosed airline in China.
Marking Flyht’s entry in the Chinese market, the deal will see the airline deploy the AFIRS real-time data services on its fleet of Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft.
The Chinese carrier has already taken delivery of its new aircraft, which is equipped with AFIRS as a line-fit option.
The aggregate data services revenue on the deal is initially valued at $1.05m for a five-year period.
The contract value is based upon the existing number of in-service AFIRS-enabled Bombardier CRJ aircraft and a preliminary set of enabled data services offered by Flyht’s cloud-based UpTime products.
Flyht Aerospace Solutions China sales vice-president Michael Fang said: “Flyht is pleased to provide data services for customers in China to enable cost savings and improved operational efficiencies.

By GlobalData“By receiving real-time data, airlines can track their aircraft and AFIRS will alert the airline to any issues, which allows them to be proactive with their maintenance and operations.
“We believe that signing this airline may open Flyht up to new possibilities in China as other airlines see the value that real-time data can provide.”
If required, the Chinese airline could include additional number of aircraft under Flyht’s data connectivity services by increasing the value of the contract.
So far, more than 100 aircraft in China have deployed AFIRS on their fleet.
Last May, Flyht won a deal from an Africa-based airline to provide the AFIRS 228 for the carrier’s four A320 aircraft.
