Austrian company Frequentis and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Prescott, Arizona have signed an agreement to conduct air traffic management (ATM) research in the US.
The research aims to enhance US airspace efficiency by upgrading automation concepts for the country’s air transportation system.

Embry-Riddle professor and Air Traffic Management programme coordinator Bill Coyne said: "The collaborative venture between Embry-Riddle and Frequentis is a first.
"The experience of Embry-Riddle in air traffic management and Frequentis’ experience with remote virtual towers in Europe are a winning combination.
"The partnership will initiate research and provide solutions in areas of safety, cost savings and security that could be used globally."
Frequentis and the aeronautical university will use ATM and technology expertise in a bid to enhance airspace efficiency, while maximising safety and performance.

Frequentis provides services to the FAA, the Department of Defense, NASA, and the Public Safety community in the US.
