UAE-based cargo airline Emirates SkyCargo has unveiled a new purpose-built facility, Emirates SkyPharma, at Dubai International Airport.
Certified under European Union (EU) guidelines, the new facility will enable timely and safe transportation of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical consignments.
Established as part of a new 11,000m² extension of Emirates SkyCentral terminal at Dubai International Airport, Emirates SkyPharma will use 4,000m² of the area to store pharmaceutical cargo.
The facility will be equipped with 88 temperature-controlled zones, as well as five temperature-controlled acceptance and delivery truck docks.
Emirates cargo divisional senior vice-president Nabil Sultan said: “Pharmaceuticals are one of the most important products we transport because of the impact on people’s lives and communities across the world.
“As a leader in the global air cargo industry we decided that it was not only important for us to build state-of- the-art cool chain facilities for the transport of pharma products but to also go the extra mile and ensure the compliance of our operations against the highest international standards.
