The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted type certificate approval to the new Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ100) B100 aircraft by Russia's Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC).

The certification has enabled SCAC to deliver its B100 aircraft family to airlines worldwide, and recognised the improvements added to the operating conditions of the SSJ100 B100.

In December 2015, Russian authorities had certified the aircraft model, which is equipped with higher thrust SaM-146 engines than its base version, SSJ100.

The engines have also been installed on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Long Range (SSJ100 LR) aircraft, the long-range version of the B100 model that received EASA type approval last December.

"The improvements added to the B100 have made it a suitable option for operations in short runways, including those within city boundaries."

With a flight range of 3,048km, the aircraft features a maximum take-off weight of 45,880kg.

The higher engine thrust of the B100 has also reduced its take-off distance by 10% as compared with the base version.
