Air traffic control company Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) has started the new Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) 2020 PROSA project to enhance safety in German airspace.

The meeting for the project took place at the DFS research centre.

As part of the project, 23 partner companies and 30 subcontractors will work in collaboration over the next three years.

The team will be responsible for developing and testing ideas on simulators.

Working on safety-relevant issues of conflict detection and conflict resolution proposals, the PROSA project comprises seven sub-projects, which are known as solutions in SESAR 2020.

The project has received funding from the SESAR Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s (EU) Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

Led by DFS, it is one of the largest of the 25 SESAR 2020 projects with the overall budget being approximately €43m, while the grant aid level is up to 70%.
