Thales has secured a contract to supply avionics systems for AirAsia’s new fleet of 304 Airbus A320neo aircraft.
The contract covers equipment such as flight management systems, navigation systems, low-range radio altimeter, and emergency location transmitters.
Thales will also provide repair-by-the-hour support services for aircraft operated by AirAsia.
Airbus has received an order from BOC Aviation for two new A320-200 aircraft.
Expected to be delivered this year, both aircraft will be on lease to an Asian airline.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has secured a contract from UAE-based satellite solutions provider Yahsat to supply ground-based control systems.
Kratos’ ground based solutions, including EPOCH integrated product suite and Monics carrier monitoring system, will allow Yahsat to provide command and control for Al Yah 3 communications satellite, which is set for launch this year.
Honeywell Aerospace has been selected by Airbus to provide its 131-9A auxiliary power unit as standard equipment for the latter’s A320 family of aircraft.
The 131-9A power unit provides airlines with the benefits of increased fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs.
