The city of Phoenix, US, has contracted defence and security company Saab to provide an event management system for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Saab has appointed SDI Presence to co-execute the contract, which includes installation and configuration of Saab’s open integration software platform, SAFE.
The contractual scope also includes providing gateway interfaces, training and support for the new platform.
SAFE will offer organisation-wide situational awareness and report real-time landside and airside conditions at the airport.
The Secretariat of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has signed an agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to improve co-operation on aviation issues among European member states
The MoU enables both parties to work together on a number of issues, including harmonised passenger data exchange programmes and airport security.

Thyssenkrupp Elevator has been contracted to install 143 passenger boarding bridges (PBB) at Istanbul New Airport for an undisclosed amount.
The contract also includes major maintenance works for the PBBs in the future.
To be manufactured in compliance with the EN12312-4 standard, the PBBs will reduce turnaround times and improve the safety and efficiency of passenger boarding and alighting at the airport.
AME Air Traffic Management has appointed Park Air Systems, a UK-based subsidiary of Northrop Grumman, to provide air traffic control (ATC) communication systems for South African airports.
The contractual scope includes the installation of more than 550 very-high frequency (VHF) units at 50 major airports in the country, in order to improve the efficiency of their ATC systems.
Park Air will also install remote control and monitoring systems (RCMS), multi-access remote control (MARC) servers, integrated cabinets, cavity filters and controllers at the airports.
